About the Library

The College Library of Gyanpeeth Degree College, Nikashi was established in 1993 along with the founding of the institution. It serves as the intellectual hub of the campus, providing students, faculty, and researchers with access to a rich collection of books, periodicals, reference materials, and digital resources.

The library is housed in a dedicated building on campus and is fully automated with a computerised cataloguing system. It is a member of the INFLIBNET N-LIST programme, giving registered users access to thousands of e-journals and e-books from leading publishers worldwide.

Book Lending

Students may borrow up to 3 books for 14 days; faculty may borrow up to 5 books for 30 days.

Dedicated computer terminals with internet access for research and e-resource browsing.

Reprography

Photocopying service available at nominal charges during library hours.

Newspaper & Periodicals

Daily newspapers and magazines available in the reading room. Back issues preserved for reference.

Reference Service

Librarians assist with subject-specific queries, bibliography preparation, and research guidance.

Regular bulletin of new arrivals and important articles circulated to departments.

Library Rules & Regulations

All members are requested to follow the library rules to maintain a conducive environment for study and research.

  1. A valid library membership card is required to borrow books or access library services. Loss of card must be reported immediately.
  2. Silence must be maintained inside the library at all times. Mobile phones must be switched to silent mode.
  3. Students are allowed to borrow a maximum of 3 books at a time for a period of 14 days.
  4. Faculty members may borrow up to 5 books for a period of 30 days.
  5. Books must be returned or renewed on or before the due date. A fine of ₹1 per day per book will be levied for overdue returns.
  6. Damage to or loss of library material will result in the member being required to replace the item or pay the current market value, plus a processing fee.
  7. Reference books, newspapers, periodicals, and question paper collections are for in-library use only and cannot be borrowed.
  8. Personal belongings such as bags and umbrellas must be deposited at the entrance counter before entering the library.
  9. Eating, drinking, or smoking inside the library premises is strictly prohibited.
  10. Writing in, tearing, or otherwise defacing library books or materials is a punishable offence and may result in cancellation of library membership.
  11. Users must return all borrowed books and clear dues before availing mark-sheets, transfer certificates, or migration certificates.
  12. The library authority reserves the right to recall any book at any time, even before the due date, if required.
  13. Any misconduct or violation of library rules will be reported to the college authority for disciplinary action.
